Welcome to Malmesbury BOSH!

(BOrrow-SHop)

Did you know, the average drill is used for only 13 minutes in its entire lifetime. What if, instead of buying that drill, you could borrow one from a community shop in Malmesbury?

We are a group of volunteers looking at the feasibility of setting up a borrow-shop (BOSH) in Malmesbury.

Picture your household, can you think of items which you only use occasionally – from power washers, tents, paint brushes, ladders to sewing machines? We all have them. It’s evident that the average household is a treasure trove of underused items!

So what is a BOSH? A BOSH is a physical shop where you can rent out these infrequently used items (all donated by our community) much cheaper than they would cost to buy brand new.

Malmesbury BOSH can therefore help individuals to save money, waste less and build better connections with our community. Renting rather than buying is better for you, better for our community and better for the planet!

What's next?

We are in the early stages and are looking to understand whether a Malmesbury BOSH is something you would like to see in Malmesbury. How can you help?

  1. Fill out our questionnaire - we have a short 5-minute questionnaire we would really appreciate being filled out! We want to know whether the demand is there to keep ongoing with this idea.

  2. Find out more - find out how the shop would work, what kind of items we'd want to stock etc.

  3. Get in contact - we'd love to hear from you if you'd like to help us progress the idea, have items that you think would work well in the shop or you'd be interested in volunteering.

Thank you!
